How much could I borrow?

Borrowing depends on income, commitments, dependants, term, deposit and each lender’s affordability model. Income multiples can be a useful rough guide but are not a reliable mortgage decision.

A proper affordability check should also leave room for legal fees, surveys, moving costs and the reality of owning the property.

How much deposit do I need?

Some mortgages are available with smaller deposits, subject to criteria. A larger deposit can improve product choice and pricing, but it should be balanced against keeping enough money for fees, emergencies and work required after completion.
